Cost of Tubal Ligation Reversal Surgery
The cost of tubal ligation reversal surgery at my center depends on the type of tubal ligation being reversed.
Fees for tubal surgery can be grouped into three main categories: 1) tubal ligation reversal, 2) Essure removal and Essure reversal, and 3) vasectomy reversal.
Essure reversal surgery is more complicated, more involved, and requires more time than reversal of the more common types of tubal ligation. As a result the cost for Essure reversal surgery and Essure removal surgery is higher than the cost of reversal of other types of tubal ligation.
Fees are all inclusive and cover:
- Pre-operative evaluation
- Anesthesia care
- Surgery related medications
- Post-operative visit
Everything is included in your surgical fee except the cost of your pre-operative testing (if required), the cost of travel, meals, and lodging. The cost of prescription medications is not included but your health insurance should cover prescription medications.
When evaluating the cost of tubal ligation reversal you will be comparing it to the cost of the alternative recommended treatments/options. It is helpful to be aware of the cost of the alternatives to tubal ligation reversal surgery.
In-vitro fertilization (IVF). A single cycle of IVF costs $14,000. When planning IVF, you need to plan on having up to three cycles to become pregnant. The average success for each cycle attempted is 30% to 40%.
Adoption. Adoption is always a great option. Unfortunately, adoption can be a lengthy process and is not always guaranteed. The average cost of of adoption in the Untied States ranges from $40,000 to $50,000
